Amoxicillin Sodium is a broad-spectrum amino-penicillin and is indicated in the treatment of bacterial infections such as actinomycosis, biliary-tract infections, bone and joint infections, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, gastroenteritis, (including Escherichia coli enteritis and Salmonella enteritis, but not shigellosis), gonorrhoea, mouth infections, sinusitis, otitis media, pneumonia (except where Mycoplasma suspected), typhoid and paratyphoid fever, urinary-tract infections, bacterial meningitis and the prophylaxis of endocarditis.

Amoxicillin Sodium is also useful treatment for infections of the ears, nose, throat, and skin. Amoxicillin Sodium is also used in combination with other medications to eliminate H. pylori, a bacteria that causes ulcers. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. Antibiotics will not work for colds, flu, and other viral infections.
