cefquinome, an Innovative ß-lactam antimicrobial, isthe 4th generation cephalosporin with antimicrobial activity against abroad spectrum of Gran-possive and Gram-nagative bacterial species andis the first 4^th generation cephalosporin approved foranimal use. It has the following Characters: faster penetration ofouter cell membrane (gram-negatives); lower affinity to ß-lactamases;higher affinity to target penicillin binding proteins.

Forthe treatment of clinical mastitis in lactating cows causedby Staphylococcus aureus, Stretococcus uberis, Stretococcusdysgalactiae, Escherichia coli  and other enterobacteria susceptible tocefquinome.In vitro, Cefquinome has antibacterial activity againstcommon Gram negative and Gram positive bacteria including Salmonellaspp. Haemophilus spp., Pasteurella spp., Klebsiellaspp., Corynebaterium pyogenes, Escherichia coli, A. pleuropneumoniae,Proteus mirabilis, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus dysgalactiae and Streptococcus uberis.
