DESCRIPTION

This product is a broad spectrum anathematic used in the control andtreatment of gastro-intestinal worms and lungworm infections in cattle, calves,sheep, goats and pigs.

MECHANISM OF ACTION

This product is a rapid acting broad spectrum anathematic.Levamisole, the active ingredient acts by first causing paralysis of the wormsand afterwards the worms are expelled in the faeces. Levamisole also helpsstimulate the immunity of the host animal by restoring cell-mediated immunefunctions and phagocytosis of the leucocytes.

It is rapidly absorbed after oral administration from GIT, metabolizedto a great extent with only a small percentage being excreted unchanged.

INDICATIONS:                                                                                  

This product is indicated for the treatment of nematode infectionsin cattle, calves, sheep m goats and pigs; it is effective against severalgenera of roundworms and lungworms eg. Haemonchus,Trichostrongylus, Ostertagia, Ascaridae, Trichuris, Chabertia, Strongyloides,Cooreria, Nematodirus, Bumostomum, Oesophagostomum, protostrongylusMetastrongylus, Dictyocaulus etc.

Levamisole is also used as a microfilaricide in dogs to treatDirofilaria immitic(heartworm) infection

Levamisole is not ovicidal, whichmeans it will not affect eggs already present, but it will affect the larvalstage of the worm. To ensure complete eradication of the parasite treat againafter remaining eggs have hatched. Muzzle foam may be observed. However, thisreaction will disappear within a few hours. if this condition persists,aveterinarian should be consulted. Follow the recommended dosage carefully
