Detailed Product Description

Imidocarb belongs to the derivatives of sym-diphenyl urea and is a kind of chemical
antiprotozoal drug specially used for animals. Clinically, preparations of its
dipropionate or dihydrochloride are usually used through subcutaneous injections
or intramuscular injections for the treatment of infections by Babesia in such
animals as horses, cattle, sheep and dogs. After injection it is rapidly absorbed
and is distributed throughout the body. The peak plasma concentration can be
reached after only 1 hour. This product is mainly excreted through the stools and
the urine unchanged.
As a kind of antiprotozoal drug specially used for animals, this product has such
advantages as smaller dosages (2mg/kg.bw), more convenient administration, shorter
treatment courses (complete cure can be achieved usually after only 1 to 2 injections)
and lower drug resistance compared with other antiprotozoal drugs like
terramycin (20mg/kg.bw), Diminazene Aceturate, etc.
After injection Imidocarb is rapidly absorbed and is distributed to the tissues throughout
the body. It is concentrated in the kidney and is reabsorbed in its unchanged
form. Animal tests show that it has excellent therapeutic effects against
many kinds of Babesia and Piroplasmea. It is applicable to be used for the diseases
caused by all kinds of Babesia, Piroplasmea, trypanosome, Eperythrozoon, Anaplasma
marginale and theileria.
